Coronavirus - Safe Practice

As my clinic is in my home, the safety of my family and my clients is of the utmost importance. Please read and abide by the following recommendations, so I keep everyone safe, thank you.

The UK Government has indicated that it is safe for Practitioners to return to practice, I  just wanted to reassure you that as a members of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT)  I have been advised to carry out a full risk assessment and adhere to COVID-19 guidelines produced by the government and the FHT. Please note this content is regularly updated, so please check back for changes.

On this page you will find the following:

My Pledge to You which includes what you will be asked to do.

My Coronavirus Policy

My Covid-19 Risk Assessment

Check that I am in good health before you arrive for treatment. I will also take my temperature before treatments.

Wash my hands and use hand sanitiser before and after each treatment.

Follow guidelines on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). I will wear a visor, disposable gloves and apron. Where requested I will also wear a face covering. UK Government Guidelines state if I am wearing a visor I do not need to wear a face covering, however, if you feel happier if I do, then I will. Click here to see HM Government Guidelines

I have completed the Health, Safety and Hygiene – Returning to Work Covid-19 Course 2020

Disinfect non-porous materials, e.g. reflexology chair, equipment, all hard surfaces and floors, before and after each treatment.

Supply clean towels for each treatment and wash towels on a 60 degree cycle.

Replace couch roll and other disposable materials.

Ventilate the treatment room before, during and after the treatment.

Change my uniform between clients.

Wear durable, disposable gloves when cleaning the premises.

Maintain social distancing before and after the treatment.

Keep your treatment time to 60 minutes or less.

Leave at least 30 minutes between clients, to allow for extra cleaning.

To reduce cross-contamination there will be no toilet facilities available.

Prior to your treatment:

If you are a new client please complete your Medical & Health Form and email to me before your treatment.

Complete a short COVID19 Pre-Treatment Questions Form and email it to me the day before EVERY treatment. You will need to Download and Save the form onto your device, then complete the form and Save As before emailing the form back.

Contact your therapist and reschedule if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, or if any person in your household is self-isolating. Please see Health Screening section below.

At your treatment:

Wear a face covering at all times.

Please wear clean clothes to your treatment, to help prevent cross-contamination.

Agree to having your temperature taken with an infrared thermometer before entering the house.

Bring a bottle of water for your refreshment.

Arrive at the agreed time and ensure social distancing before and after the treatment. If you arrive late, you will have a shorter session.

Use hand sanitiser upon arrival and when leaving the premises, which will be supplied.

As the room will be well ventilated, you may wish to bring a small blanket for your comfort.

Please bring only the minimal amount of personal belongings into the house.

Pay by Bank Transfer, where possible. If you can only pay by cash then please have the correct amount as no change will be available.

Throughout the pandemic, I will be following guidelines issued by the government, NHS, other relevant authorities and my professional association, the Federation of Holistic Therapists, regarding safe and hygienic practice and the use of any personal protective equipment (PPE).

I have carried out a full risk assessment, in line with guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), in order to:

  • identify what work activity or situations might cause transmission of the virus;
  • think about who could be at risk;
  • decide how likely it is that someone could be exposed; and to
  • act to remove the activity or situation, or if this isn’t possible, control the risk.

Prior to seeing any of my clients, I will be:

Monitoring my own health and deferring treatments if I have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19.

Contacting my clients 24 hours in advance and deferring any treatments if:

  • they have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19;
  • are clinically extremely vulnerable and shielding;
  • anyone in their household has COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19;
  • they have been in close contact with someone who has symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days;
  • they have been contacted by the NHS Test and Trace Service and told to self isolate.

Asking my clients to call and cancel and defer treatment on the morning of their appointment if they have a temperature or other symptoms of COVID-19.

I have introduced enhanced cleaning and hygiene measures between clients, which includes washing and disinfecting any non-porous surfaces and therapy equipment, such as the reflexology chair and replacing any porous or single-use items, such as towels. Strict personal hygiene measures will also be adhered to, including regular hand washing/ sanitising.

It may be necessary for me to adapt or restrict certain treatments, in order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 and/or protect my clients’ health and safety. Any clients likely to be impacted will be advised as soon as possible.

Please note that while many treatments involve close contact, I will be observing social distancing measures wherever possible. This might include, for example, maintaining an appropriate distance during the consultation process, and when arriving and leaving for an appointment.

If a treatment is cancelled or deferred at short notice because my client has COVID-19 or has symptoms of COVID-19, any standard cancellation fees will be waivered. The client will be asked to kindly confirm in writing that their appointment has been cancelled or deferred because they have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19.

I am happy to be contacted to discuss any aspect of your treatment during this time.
